Company steps in to boost town carnival
Article published in The Hinckley Times on Thursday March 18th 2010
Premier Logistics have saved the day by joining Brindley Transport to support this year's Hinckley Carnival.
Simon Perrins, sales and marketing manager, was rather excited at the prospect of his company's involvement in the carnival and was happy to support the event.
Carnival organiser Neil Turvey said: "Now with Premier Logistics also involved in the carnival this year should really prosper.
The carnival team are hoping that the support of Premier and Brindley will continue next year as the committee want to make next year's carnival the best ever." Judging for this year's Hinckley Carnival Princess also takes place this Saturday (March 20) at Hinckley Working Men's Club, Stockwell Head. A disco, buffet and other entertainment plus the judging and prize-giving starts at 12.30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend and donations can be made for carnival funds. There is also a local band night at the Clarendon Club in Coventry Road on Friday April 9 from 7pm. Bands including Barricades Rise, Steve Faulkner, Funktion, Fusion and the Sheds will be playing.
Tickets (£2.50) are available from the Copyshop, Charlotte Brame House, 35 Castle Street and the Clarendon Club.
The Carnival is looking for dedicated committee members to help run the Carnival for this year and future year's to guarantee the carnival continues. The committee are already planning ahead for next year, the 50th anniversary of the carnival, and want to contact anyone who is celebrating a 50th birthday or anniversary and past carnival princesses and queens to get back on a float in next year's parade. Stalls, walking groups and float entries are also required for this year's carnival - for all forms visit www.hinckleycarnival.co.uk. Also, the committee surprised their chairman for a Christmas gift as Neil who is a keen singer went to Oak FM studios with the station's Mark Rowley and cut his own CD with seven songs on.
Neil said: "Thanks to Oak FM and to the committee particularly former member Sara Yeo who organised the surprise."
